Taking a break

March 30, 2022

A garbage quilt made from stuff to small to make anything with, it’s called a “fire quilt”. The block pattern  was a free from Bonnie Hunter from Quiltville and was published in the Quiltmaker magazine. Super easy with all the bits and bobs I had to play with. As usual the color of choice for me are warm and fall and WILD! Like ME!

Tomorrow is a special day. It’s my birthday and strange as it may sound I will be 61. That’s not the strange thing. The strange thing is that I will be 61 and I was born in 61. That is what scares me. Too much of a coincidence!

At any rate. My husband, doctor Jim gave me the gift of 3 days off the ranch with many old and new quilting friends… I imagine per usual I will be making more friends in the vast expanses of the quilting world as I Embark on a quilt retreat from Thursday till Saturday. Which is rather unusual since they usually run from Friday through Sunday. I’m not complaining though I will be glad to be home so I can go to church on Sunday!

I have never attended this retreat before. It’s in a small South Dakota town that I’ve never been to before in my beautiful State of South Dakota. I will be going to Faulkton, South Dakota and I will be attending the quilt retreat that the Quilters Corner quilt shop will be hosting. I am excited to attend.

Have you ever noticed when you do your talk to text on the new Smart equipment it never never never recognizes the word Quilt usually it comes up with quit or something else and Shop is never shop. Evidently talk to text does not realize the extreme amount of money that women spend on their fabric and tool addiction. Yes I have to admit it definitely is a addiction!

I noticed while going through photos that doctor Jim and myself have started our journey into “aging” as our hair is turning colors. Last year we had snow off and on but nothing like 4 years ago. This year we have had maybe 2 or 3 snows, with little to no moisture. We are afraid the drought is getting Serious!

Christmas in 2020 everyone was home and it was a great year.

I’ll report back after the quilt retreat as I need to pack the car with everything that can stand the cold temps over night. The Alarm clock is set for 5 AM so it will be a long day tomorrow. I don’t like putting my sewing machines in the car when the temperature is so cold. I don’t put in my purse I don’t put in any of my plastic rulers, I don’t put in any of my make up or anything that will freeze and alter its chemical make up, cutting boards are definitely a no, no for very cold temperatures or very hot temperatures so as you can see I still have a lot to pack in the morning before leaving on my birthday trip. I checked Google Maps to see how far I will be driving in the morning and it says it’s a three hour trip so when it starts at 10 o’clock in the morning and having to stop at the post office before I leave to drop off mail in the box I know I’ll have a couple stops on the way for necessaries.

See ya next time. The millboro quilter!
